Superb rural location, peaceful, excellent views, great spacious property. Near good pub, The Anchor. Hosts Annabelle and Chris very hospitable and live close by without being intrusive. Cottage has a lovely atmosphere overall and plenty of space for 6. All amenities you could wish for. Lovely wood burner (though not used on our stay). Bathroom facilities excellent, brilliant shower in master bedroom (which everybody in the house used as the 2nd bathroom simply had a hand held shower over the bath). Useful items on arrival such as wash up liquid, scourer (previously used but I brought my own, as experience taught me that saucepans and frying pans on holiday are notoriously difficult to clean without one), soap, tea, coffee, bottled water, dog treats, etc. Owner Annabelle kindly provided ice at my request, thank you.
Beds rather uncomfortable and could do with upgrade. Much of the old furniture serves its purpose and is comfortable but really could do with upgrade, especially the patio table which I feel needs replacing and the aluminium patio set needs a good clean. Patio is slippery when it rains, with loose slabs. This should, I felt, be the focal point of the property with its superb views.
£70 per pet per week - really?? Seems steep and I've never paid this much to take our dog with us. Garden not enclosed so our husky dog had to be secured because of the possibility of her escaping and chasing sheep.
Paperwork on booking stated TV in bedrooms, only one TV in main lounge, other/s seem to have been removed despite remotes and TV aerial left in at least one of the other bedrooms. Many of these rules will no doubt be in place following recent lifting of restrictions following covid-19 lockdown but I'm not sure why bedroom TV/s had been removed (I'm sure one would've been provided had I requested it).
Master bedroom was connected to the second bedroom via a connecting door, which I thought was unnecessary and I would have preferred it to be separate.
That said the house had been opened up after recent lockdown and was, overall, clean, welcoming, comfortable and peaceful but I feel it needs a bit of TLC.
