Beyond the beautiful house, which is located in a beautiful quiet rural place right next to town with a hot jacuzzi placed on top of the river, Alonso & Roy the owners of the facility were beyond welcoming, helpful in guiding us as to the different activities to do in the area and booking them. I would give 6 stars if possible. Would recommend staying there no less than 3 nights.

Stayed at this very impressive, large, clean, quiet, well-equipped house a minutes drive from downtown La Fortuna for seven nights. Comfortable beds, warm shower, equipped kitchen for cooking your own meals, great sitting area to watch TV with several english channels. WiFi worked well. Three great outdoor spaces for relaxing, reading, birdwatching. Owned by "super host" Alonso and his family who professionally run the Rancho Cerro Azul across the street which has rental cabins, the Ginger restaurant serving breakfast, lunch & dinner, a cozy bar and a walking trail down to the river. Alonso speaks excellent english and will give you a map highlighting attractions in the area. When he's not there, his english speaking staff are also very helpful. Five minute drive to grocery stores, restaurants and a beautiful park in the Centre of La Fortuna. About a 10 minute drive to the popular La Fortuna waterfalls. An easy 10 minute walk to the local "El Salto" waterfall and swimming hole next to Rio Fortuna. Book this place, you will not be disappointed! Hope to return to the Ginger Home one day.

Our family of five were very comfortable here during our 3 day stay at The Ginger House. It was nice having a living room to hang out in not to mention the lovely hammocks! The beds were comfy and the wifi worked great. Alonso and his brother were very helpful with planning activities. We liked it so much that we came back for an extra night when we couldn’t make it to our next location due to weather.

Very nice house, comfortable beds and the jacuzzi in the tropic surrounding is awesome! Alonso is a very kind host, taking care of our needs and questions immediately and very kindly! He makes sure the house and jacuzzi are very well maintained and has great tips for excursions! We would come back anytime! Highly recommandable!!!!

Located about a mile from the bustling city center in La Fortuna, Ginger House is hidden away in a natural environment that allows you to escape reality while you are there. The house was in immaculate shape when we arrived, including “towel swans” that my kids loved. It is a 2 bedroom house, and the second bedroom has 2 separate beds, which is a plus. Our favorite feature where the hammocks on the front porch that was enjoyed during passing rainstorms. It’s a very short walk across the street to the Cerro Azul Hotel, where we would grab a fantastic Costa Rican breakfast. Alonso was very helpful with advice on restaurants and excursions, even booking them for us once we decided. The entire staff was extremely attentive throughout our stay. Outside of Ginger House, the entire Arenal area was so enjoyable. You get a true look at Costa Rican culture, and the people in this area are true “salt of the earth” types. Don’t miss out on this hidden gem if you come to Arenal!

The house is located close to town and down the street from La Fortuna waterfall. Alonzo and his family were exceptional host/ hostess, made us feel very welcome. House was as described and pictures are accurate. The only issue would be the hot tub, it is located where it just fills with leaves and makes it hard to use. We were within minutes of everything La Fortuna has to offer.

Host Alonso and his family were wonderful to us. The home is out of town just far enough and yet close to several nice restaurants and supermarkets. They offer a nice breakfast across the road at their hotel for a modest price. Not far to Fortuna Waterfall. The home is very nice and clean with all the amenities as described. A great home base for a visit to the area. Alonso can provide activities and reservations as needed. Great place to stay!!!

Truly a wonderful place to stay. Alonso wil help you with all youre questions. The house has a very nice garden with lots of birds, squirrels and order animals. Sitting on the porche is a real pleasure! The house is clean and well equiped! Restaurants are nearby if needed. Just go, you wont regret it!!!

We so enjoyed our stay at the ginger house. The location is off the beaten path, which was just what we needed. Close to the Waterfall and town. breakfast was great at the family owned hotel across the street. Coffee was just a short walk to down to earth coffee. Alonso the owner was wonderful in assisting us with transportation with Arenal vacations our transport specialist was Alvaro Quesada, best in Costa Rica. you will not be disapointed with this little gem. thank you Alonso for the hospitality and thank you "AL". we look forward to next year!

We felt like lifestyles of the rich and famous while staying in this beautiful home in a perfect location. The home itself is stunning and on a great piece of land with many amenities. The air conditioners worked excellent (important for us weak North American folks LOL). Great hammocks. Outdoor hot tub. Great decks. Made it hard to leave to explore as we had our own slice of heaven! Daily cleaning which we did not expect. Owner was amazing and treated us with great hospitality and gratitude. Saw lots of species of birds. Close walk to town and to waterfall. We will be back 100% and just hope this place is not booked! Highly recommended. Actually you would need to be a fool not to book this place. Great family run home- you all should be very proud. Thanks for a great stay!
