Our host was charming and location suited us well. However, we were cold because the heating only worked in the main room and there was insufficient bedding. The water was not hot.

The accommodation is a first-floor apartment with a well-appointed kitchen, large rooms and everything that you could want for a city-break holiday. Service bus into town is less than 100m away, as are good restaurants and spectacular viewpoints. Host Mario gave a tour of the apartment on arrival to ensure that we knew how everything worked and arrangements over keys etc, and was helpful throughout including organising a taxi back to the airport on departure. Location is the real winner though - bustling with tourists from 09.00 - 18.30, but then so peaceful in the evening and early morning, watching a peacock stroll along the street outside as dawn was breaking. A 'fixed' shower would have made it a 5-star rating.

We stayed in this flat for a week. It’s on the first floor and is situated very close to Castelo Sao Jorge in the old part of the city. When the castle is open, the area is bustling, but in the evening and at night, it’s very quiet. There is a bus every 10 minutes down to the centre. The flat itself is clean and very well equipped with a full sized cooker, should you wish to cook at home as we did most of the time, and a supermarket a few minutes walk (and a lift)away. Two other pluses were WiFi and a washing machine! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the flat! Generally, transport in Lisbon is reasonably priced and very efficient and it’s very easy to get around the city. Food is very reasonable and there are plenty of places to eat locally and in the city. We had an excellent meal at Chapito which is about 5 minutes walk from the flat, with wonderful views.

A very nice rental, great location( easy transportation, restaurants, and shopping) The check in was easy and helpful. Apartment was clean, neat, and spacious. I would highly recommend.

We booked the apartment for 9 days. It is really well located for tourist purposes and if you are not afraid to walk up hills. We enjoyed the sun on the late afternoon on the small terrace with the view on the Castle. Around the apartment , it is real busy during the day, street musiciens and tourists but quiet and romantic during the night. The apart was clean and the housekeeper came in the middle of the week, great service. Also you will have everything you need for cooking. There are good restaurants around , Mario, the host gave us great recommendations. Also a nice grocery store is accessible by the elevator after 5 min walk from the apart. Thanks Mario to help us have a great experience in Lisbon!

Lägenheten var hemtrevlig och ombonad. Allt vi behövde fanns på plats, i köket och badrummet. Många handdukar. Bra dusch. Fina trägolv och vackra gamla fönster och andra detaljer. Lite kallt i december men värmen/luftkonditioneringen fungerade bra och värmde lägenheten skönt. Vi sov gott och det var helt tyst i huset och från gatan på natten. Torget och gatorna nedanför väl upplysta på natten. Mycket vackra kvällspromenader! Trevligt med cafeét/frukost- och lunchrestaurangen precis nedanför lägenheten. Vackra kvarter och nära till mataffären Pingo Doce. Promenadavstånd till tågstation, metro, Baixa-kvarteren och det mesta vi ville se.

A great location, right next to the main entrance to the castle - step outside in the day time and all is busy and bustling, but it's quiet at night. There are 4-5 good restaurants in easy walking distance. Mario, the manager, was really helpful in arranging travel from and to the airport, and in welcoming us to the apartment. The apartment provided good room for the two of us, lots of storage space in wardrobes, and it was great to have Eurosport on the range of satellite channels (big tennis tournament on the week we stayed). The main downside was that the beds were very firm - too hard for our old arthritic joints - and from the second night we slept on piled-up duvets on top of the mattress, to try to take the edge off. Mario, please install thick toppers on the beds for the sake of folks like us! I've checked 'Yes' in the box below in the belief that you will do this - otherwise I would have to say 'No'!

Ce petit appartement au centre de la vieille ville est idéalement bien placé, permettant toutes les excursions à pied. Seul inconvénient: en face du château, donc rue bruyante dès le matin. Mais on s'habitue !

Alfama 5 is one of several flats managed by FadoFlats in the Castelo do Sao Jorge neighborhood of the Alfama. I could hardly imagine a more romantic location for our Lisbon stay than this lovely flat situated just outside the famous hilltop castle. The location means that, during the day, the immediate neighborhood bustles with tourists, taxis, tuk tuks, and street musicians. Open the french doors in the bedroom overlooking the street in front of the castle and people watch to your heart's content. At night, though, the area shuts down and you have the ancient cobblestone lanes and alleys to yourself--quiet, safe, and well-lit. The apartment's excellent sound blocking windows and interior shutters make it easy to get a good night's sleep. It's really a great spot in a very historic part of an amazing city. The apartment was extremely clean and well-appointed. The washing machine was a welcome addition. Excellent WiFi made it easy to share pics on social media and stay in touch with friends back home. Mario, the property manager, recommended a driver to pick us up at the airport, whose services we used. He also met us at the apartment and showed the ropes. Very nice people, and entirely professional. Highly recommended.
