We have just come back from a 2 weeks stay and I cannot praise the villa and owners enough. We traveled as a family of 5 with my daughters who are 19 17 and 13… The villa and the village are amazing it’s a small slice of Greek paradise We enjoyed our stay so much and Sandra was so helpful with some great tips on places to visit and the best beaches. The views of sunsets and sunrises from the villa are just breathtaking. Pool is great size and they supply all you need from inflatables to beach stuff I will look forward to visiting again as It was just Fantastic Thanks just what the family needed

For 2 weeks we stayed at Villa Apo Petra in Crete. Great accomodation on the hills with a great view on the Mediterranean. The large and luxurious villa is equipped with all comforts and a nice large and clean pool. The always friendly and very helpful owners provided us with good advice and were always available in case of queries and always responded very quickly. The beautiful and child-friendly beaches of Almyrida and Kalyves can be reached within 20 minutes. In Almyrida very good restaurants, such as Psaros are located. Wow what an amazing place, we went as a family of 2 adults and 3 children 10, 12 14 years. The villa is amazing, so beautifully kept and maintained with EVERYTHING you need from kitchen equipment, washing machine, iron, inflatables for the pool and beach towels even an enormous beach bag to carry it all in! Amazing terraces and areas to chill and look at the amazing veiws with a cheeky glass of vino. The pool was awesome, plenty big enough and the kids had a lovely time both playing and chilling and the good thing was they could be noisy without me having to worry. You are close enough to the village to grab your essentials (with a car) but far enough away to chill and be away from it all. Sandra as a host is wonderful, always therr if you need her and offers so much information about where to go and what to see, they obviously know and love the island well. We will definately return. We arrived in late April and stayed for 10 wonderful days. The villa is about 45 minutes from the airport and on the way about 10 minutes away from Apo Petra, you will pass taverna’s, convenience stores and beaches. The villa is very well equipped and has everything that you will need during your stay. Sandra is a lovely host and gives you lots of information in a very timely manner and her management team in Crete who look after the villa are very professional. We can’t wait to return.

I had a very nice stay at the villa. The place is just so peaceful and quiet combined with a stunning view over the mountains to the sea. The pool area is very nice and it was sometimes a bit difficult to motivate myself to leave the house and instead spent the day with a book at the water. The house comes along with all you need to enjoy your stay. A nice gas BBQ on the upper veranda and several sunbeds. The location of course is a bit remote, so you need a car to get there and move around. Communication with Sandra was very easy and responsive. Sandra provided tips and information for things to do, places to see and restaurants nearby. Nite that there is no WiFi in the house, but mobile reception is very good l, so it was no problem. All in all a full recommendation if you want to enjoy the nature and re-fuel your batteries!

Had the pleasure of staying in the charming Villa Apo Petra during the first two weeks of September 2020. Have been to the Plaka area of Crete on many occasions and what a superb location this is. Stunning views from the hillside overlooking Souda Bay and the magnificent sunsets at the end of each day. Villa was clean and well prepared for us and the pool was crystal clear and inviting in the beautiful hot Cretan sunshine. Looking forward to returning again at some point in the future.

We have visited villa Apo Petra on several occasions and this trip certainly didn’t disappoint! Every time we visit it exceeds our expectations. The villa was spotless and with the bright lush gardens surrounding the villa, the crystal clear pool and breathtaking views was truly was paradise. We were the first ones to visit due to Covid19 and with all the safety procedures in place (both travelling and upon arrival) I soon felt relaxed and any worries or apprehensions soon disappeared. The picturesque tavernas are a short distance away in plaka, all serving mouthwatering local dishes and more! The sandy white beaches were perfect place to unwind with a cocktail or 2. We did a few trips that the owners recommended from an exhilarating boat trip to relaxing on a pedalo on a perfect lagoon was heaven. The owners keep this property in immaculate condition and will go that extra mile to ensure you have a truly amazing holiday. The last time we went on family holiday overseas it was to an all inclusive hotel so this time my wife suggested a villa where we could have our own space and timetable. From the minute we arrived at this villa we felt relaxed! The wonders of Google maps got us from Chania airport in about 45mins having flown from Gatwick and hired a car from Kalives Car Hire (small discount via the villa owner). The first thing you are struck by is how peaceful the area is and how pretty the villa looks; the first thing our girls wanted to do was jump in the pool. The pool is on a terrace and has the same views across Souda Bay that you get from the various balconies, all of which are a great position to relax and absorb the view, watch the sunset and soak up the heat from. The villa itself has plenty of room for six (we have four children aged 11-20) accommodated in two doubles, a twin and an extra day bed in the master bedroom so could take seven. All of the rooms are clean and well presented and the managing company do a great job of making the place look welcoming for your arrival. The kitchen has everything you'd need in terms of cooking, storage and crockery/cutlery. Try to pack a few dishwasher tablets. There's a table with plenty of room if you decide not to eat on the main verandah. The lounge has a couple of sofas and an armchair and a TV with DVD, playstation, Wii and a satellite receiver although the channels were very limited. There is a wifi hotspot but this is not included and a sim would need to be bought in the local shop. We relied on our data roaming from O2. The downstairs bedroom is a double. There is a downstairs toilet and shower. Upstairs are the master bedroom, a twin bedroom and a large shower room with a washing machine. We made the drive to Chania a couple of times and looked around the old town. We ate at one of the restaurants around the historic Venetian Harbour. The glass bottom boat trip is well worth it just remember to take your swimwear even on the 1 hour trip. Heading in the other direction from Chania we went to Lake Kournas and dived in to the clear blue water from a pedalo. Could have stayed longer but then headed to Georgiopoulos. There are a number of lovely beaches but we were quite happy to return to the same spot at Almyrida where there is a choice of places to eat (although largely offering the same sort of food), gift shops and a great beach. There was also the opportunity to hire paddle boards, kayaks etc. Nearby Plaka has some great restaurants with very hospitable service in a typically Cretan environment. Great if you decide to spend prolonged time enjoying the pool at the villa and don't want to go far. The little supermarkets do provide the basics although are more expensive than home so if you can, get to the Lidl in Chania early. You'll also need to buy drinking water. I don't normally do this sort of holiday, prefering to head to the Lake District, but came home feeling very relaxed and with more of a tan than I'd have got in Cumbria! I'd certainly go back as there were more places to visit than we got to.

If you are looking for a quiet rural location in easy reach of villages / beaches, this is the place for you. The views from the property are stunning, especial at sunset. All you will hear is birdsong, sheep or goats bell. Good places for an evening out are Plaka and Almyrida, a by the sea resort only 5 miles away. Cretan people are wonderful. A great area for walking or just relaxing by the pool. We will return!

To the reader of this review, this is a lovely quiet villa, the vista from either of the balconies is worth the cost of rental alone and that is truly only just the beginning of what is on offer. Three bedrooms, one with a double bed the others being two singles are clean, comfortable and air conditioned. Both bathrooms have showers, are well presented and clean. Crete is a paradise and this villa is a perfect place to call home for a week or two, I promise you that you will not want to leave
