Lovely! Huge beautiful garden filled with fruit trees! The house has many welcome touches, like mosquito screens, toys for kids, a good washer and dryer! Spacious and well appointed rooms. Perfect for a family and larger groups. Perfect respite.

I had the pleasure of staying at this incredible Costa Rican retreat, and it is a trip I will never forget! The owners make it their top priority that you feel at home, and have all of your needs met. I look forward to recommending this to my friends, and hopefully staying here again soon!

If you are looking for a place to stay in the central valley just outside of San Jose and fairly close to the airport, this is the place to stay!! We LOVED our stay at La Maison Bleu. It felt like paradise...serene, peaceful, restful...with gorgeous vistas from the house of Volcan Barva and the surrounding area. We loved sitting out on the front porch swings in the morning while we drank our coffee. The grounds are beautiful as well and you can check out all the different fruit trees and coffee plants on the property. The house itself is beautiful inside and very spacious, perfect for housing large families or family reunions or multi-family vacations. There is also a carport to park under if you are using a rental car. It was secluded, safe and secure and yet close enough to walk to nearby grocery shops, a fruit/veggie stand and take-out food spots. We stayed just under a week and used La Maison Bleu as a home base as we explored the area. We were pleasantly surprised at how close the house was to many of the things we wanted to do. We did a zip-ling tour at Canopy Adventure Volcan Barva which was excellent and just 20 minutes up the mountain from the house. We went on a coffee tour at the Cafe Britt coffee roasting facility which was also about a 15-20 minute drive from the house. The Starbucks Plantation called Hacienda Alsacia just opened for visitors and was just a 30-45 minute drive from the house...but a gorgeous drive where you pass through several coffee fields. And we also visited La Paz Waterfall and Gardens just over an hour drive away and close to Poas Volcano...also beautiful scenery along the way! We also visited Manuel Antonio National Park which was anywhere between 3-4 hours away depending on traffic. A GPS or the Waze App is a must for finding your way around in Costa Rica. The owner's relative/caretaker of the house was super friendly and cut down a cluster of bananas for us to eat from throughout the week. We would definitely stay here again if we find ourselves in Costa Rica in the future!

I had the pleasure of staying at La Maison Blue while on a 3 week excursion to Panama and Costa Rica. This home is very charming and the wood work is amazing! So bright, very clean and an excellent location for daily excursions. I had the opportunity to cook dinner for owners relatives and felt safe knowing they were right next door! Exceptional views, outstanding weather (mild and sunny!) and very charming and CLEAN home. The entire property was like a dream -- very secluded! I hammock'd, front porched, read and enjoyed all the bird chirping and breezes. 90 minutes to Jaco Beach, 25 minutes to Barva Volcano. BEAUTIFUL uphill, 45 minute drive to Poas Volcano. Can't wait to return!

From the gate entrance beautiful yard to the front porch to the third story, anywhere you go on the property is peaceful. My husband and I enjoyed sitting on the front porch every morning and afternoon enjoying the birds and views surrounding the property. We also enjoyed the short drive to Barva and Poas. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Costa Rica.

As you drive through the gated tropical foliage you are immediately enclosed in a private tropical paradise. The large lot and 3 story house provides a place where you don't want to ever leave even thought there are thousands of things to see and do in Costa Rica. There is nothing like waking up to the cool morning and having coffee in the swing on the front porch or relaxing in the afternoon in the hammock staring at the views of Volcan Barva. Also make sure to go up to the third floor at night and look at the glittering lights of San Jose in the valley below from the upstairs bedroom. The home is huge and you can tell the kitchen and dining was designed to feed a large family so it is easy to cook your own meals after a trip to the Automercado. Great base camp central to all things fun in Costa Rica. Don't miss going to top of Volcan Barva right up the road and hike the cloud forest. Also walking around the neighborhoods is fun to feel the vibe of the real Costa Rica and not the touristy areas that the resorts cater to.
