Fantastic stay...Mary and Des are lovely hosts and the apartment has everything you could need. Beautiful seating area just outside with stunning views to the mountains and best of all ...your own pool in a gorgeous garden. Valor is a beautiful, traditional Spanish village with plenty of bars to try out the local tapas. Most relaxing holiday we have ever had.

You were perfect guests too! Making the most of the garden and pool, enjoying tapas in the local bars and entering into the spirit of village life at our Pride event in the church square.
I know you enjoyed your trip to Granada too but it’s great when our guests just love spending time here, making the most of the weather, watching the Goss Hawks fly over the pool and cooking your fresh seafood to eat on the terrace after a long day of reading by the pool.....

Charm and Tradition
If you ever wanted to have a genuine rock in your living room, this is the place to go. The apartment is in the ground floor of a traditional building, typical for a "pueblo blanco" of the Alpujarras, and it has been renovated/restored using traditional crafts and constructions combined with modern elements. It stays cool when it is hot outside, is well-equipped and cosy - you only have to take care at one low passage. It is located at the lower rim of the village, so it is quiet and the private terrace offers a wide view of the Alpujarran scenery. It is equipped with table, chairs, sunbeds. The garden boasts with fruit and herbs we were invited to use.
Mary and Des are great hosts, wecoming us with bread, wine, fruit and eggs from their own chicken; more basic foodstuffs were in the kitchen. They gave us all kinds of information and helped us to get a special local dish (arroz, very good) at a restaurant that you have to pre-order, and they gave us other recommendations for places to go. There are many dirt roads and trails to walk around Válor, offering different views and ideal to experience the Alpujarran nature and cultured landscape with century-old terraces (partly used today).
It should not be concealed that driving through Válor with its steep narrow streets can be a challenge. But the locals do it every day. And these small streets are certainly part of the charm of this place.

Totally brilliant.
From start to finish a truly wonderful break.
Des & Mary were wonderful hosts, I was greeted with a bottle of wine,bread,butter,eggs and jam.
The accommodation was very Spanish with everything you would need for a holiday.
The village has everything you need bars, shops, and a bank.
The scenery is totally stunning. I have been to Valor about four or five times now and I don't think I will ever be board.
If you want a quiet relaxing time this is for you. If you like walking then you are in the right place, there are some really nice walks to be had locally.
If you need a beach then Adra is about ¾ of an hour away.

Wonderful mountain village retreat
We had a great few days staying in Des and Mary's apartment. The place was lovely and clean, and had everything we needed, including an outdoor pool and spectacular views across the valley. Mary and Des were wonderful hosts and made us feel very welcome. They gave us some excellent tips on what to do in Valor and how to get the most from the fiesta that was going on during our stay - which we definitely did! We hope to visit again soon and would have no hesitation in recommending this place to others.

Wonderfull , Muy especial
Todo resultó ser como nos lo habiamos imaginado, un reducto de tranquilidad y paz que parecía haber sido sacado de un cuadro del impresionismo.
Detalles como los huevos, vino, decoracion de navidad para las niñas, el sofá cama, e interminables detalles que hicieron que nuestra estancia alli sea recordada para siempre, incluso con las pesadas cuestas de calles de las alpujarras.
Si quieres recordar como saber vivir, escapaté unos cuantos dias a VALOR.

The hidden Spain
Mary and Des could not have been more helpful or hospitable and helped make this holiday one to remember.
The house is at the bottom of the village away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and looks down on fields and a small town nestling in the valley, the only noise being crickets chirping in the grass and swallows chasing insects overhead.
The guest apartment is comfortable and stylish and completely separate from the main residence apart from a shared porch. It has a large terrace with patio furniture and colourful pots of plants. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to self-cater but there are a number of good eating places and bars in the village for those who don't! The swimming pool is large and deep enough to have an enjoyable swim and is completely private.
Valor is a very picturesque village with narrow streets and little traffic. The view from the top of the village is quite spectacular.
I most enjoyed the peace and quiet and just watching the world go by.

sublime contentment
We (three girls in 20's) spent one night in Casa Francessa and I wish it was many more. We spent 2 weeks in the south of spain and this accomodation wasn't matched in terms of affordability and comfort anywhere. Bottle of red wine left for us, pool, patio with wifi looking over the countryside, bookshelf of great reads and dvds, cool house to retreat to from the heat, beautifuly furnished. This place is a steal and the hosts are great fun and very helpful with knowedge of the surrounding regions.

Fabulous and highly recommended.....
Spending only 3 days at La Casa Francesa was no where near long enough! Next time we'll be there for longer..... Relaxed atmosphere, stunning views, perfect weather and fabulous hosts meant we had an amazing break.
The accomodation provides everything you need and Mary and Des are on hand if you need them. The meal they cooked for us was out of this world and I would recommend anyone who is staying to partake in their hospitality.
Although you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere - it's so quiet, which is wonderful - Valor boasts many bars, restaurants, a couple of supermarkets and a bank at least so if you feel so inclined you can park up and stick to first class walking!
We truly couldn't have enjoyed a better experience.

We enjoyed a heartwarming, peaceful stay with Mary and her husba
We stayed only for one night in Casa Francesa as we were on a roundtrip. The house we stayed in was great, with all kinds of natural elements and an amazing view (peaceful surroundings) . Furthermore, Mary and her husband welcomed us wonderfully and were very helpful.
Last but not least, the breakfast was really nice as well.

unique experience!
Staying here was the most unique and best holiday experience I have had. La Casa Francesa is a lovely property in keeping with its location it is rustic but it has all the amenities you need to be self sufficient. The pool was an added bonus and much needed to cool off after our many walks in the surrounding countryside. Mary & Des couldnt have looked after us better, their food was second to none, I dont know which we enjoyed more, the meals in their own home or the BBQ's around the pool in the early evening as the sun was setting over the amazing view!.
Valor is a beautiful village, quiet but with enough local bars and restaurants if you want to go out but without the touristy feel of more commercial areas. The local countryside is stunning and there are lots of local walks to explore to burn off some of the calories consumed.
Def going back, just sorting out flights for our next visit in June!
