We absolutely loved this converted boathouse with its deck virtually touching the water's edge. When we arrived, the fog obstructed our views but for the next five days it was hot and sunny. This meant we could make full use of the deck and enjoy the views including amazing sunsets. The stars at night were wonderful. The house is on two levels but we lived outdoors so much that we hardly ever used the upstairs living area. It is advertised as a B&B but this means you drive to a nearby restaurant where you can use free breakfast vouchers. We however wanted to sit on our deck and eat breakfast outdoors, so we stocked the fridge with food from a supermarket and "prepared" our own breakfast of yoghurts, fresh fruit, muffins etc.. As the weather was so good, we also had salads and a bottle of wine most evenings. Lion's Head is the nearest proper small town where there is a supermarket, a liquor store, a pub with good food and friendly locals. It was approx fifteen minutes' drive away, the other side of highway 6. The boathouse has a small fridge, with freezer compartment, kettle, coffee maker, cutlery, crockery, tablecloth, wine glasses etc.. (+ a table and chairs inside as well as outside). As there is no kitchen sink, a plastic crate was provided for dirty dishes etc..., and the owners took it away to wash up every morning and returned it clean the same day. The owners, Sam and Teresa, live behind the boathouse (but we had total privacy) and they were always cheerful and really helpful. Sam has a studio on site, and as soon as we looked around it we just had to buy a painting! This is a very relaxing place to stay and we hope to be back one day.…
