This stay will not be forgotten, and not in a good way. Arrived after 26 hr, flight to find building locked & a phone number contact sign on the door. Not having a phone would have been a huge problem had not our son been with us. (He lives in Stockholm). 2 phone calls & 20 mins. later got us into our room. Carpets were stained, musty and very dirty. Furniture was literally falling apart. Table in bathroom had a top that was falling down & a matching table in the bedroom wasn't even usable. Shower had mold and was filthy. At 7 pm management came in and cleaned the bath, admitting that the bath had not been properly cleaned. Switched rooms the next day. Smaller room, but no mildew smell. That night, AFTER washing my hair, I found the blow dryer didn't work. Also, the bath had a tub w/shower handle. Shower spray was broken. Every time you turned it on, water sprayed everywhere! More furniture issues -- Moved a table to plug in the computer and the leg fell off. Dining area was locked every day after breakfast, so no way to get an afternoon cup of coffee or tea. This hotel is just one step above a hostel. Do NOT believe the pretty pictures on the web site. The rooms where you sleep are not what you see. The last day we were there, the maid didn't even clean our bath. Soaking towels from wiping up water the night before were left there on the tub. No one to call for dry towels, as we got back late and the lobby closed at 1PM! Management knew of all of this, and while said she was sorry, she made no adjustment to our bill. Had we a choice, we would have left after the 1st day. The only thing I can say positive is that the staff was very pleasant and the dining area was clean and nice. Breakfast was typically Swedish, with an assortment of granola, yogurt, breads and "cold cuts".…
On the one hand: The room is nice, roomy enough, & comfortable, nothing fancy but everything you need. Free laundry machines. Breakfast was included & it was plentiful and good. The bus to the city is a 2-minute walk from the front door of the hotel. The manager at the front desk was very helpful. Price was right: about $120/night for a double room. The hotel is quiet. On the other hand: The hotel is on an island about 6 miles outside of Stockholm, and in the month of July, everyone is on vacation (we learned), and it's almost as if the island is deserted. No restaurants or shops within a 30 minute walk from the hotel. And because the hotel's cafe closes after breakfast, eating can be a problem. While the manager was helpful, the front desk is staffed from 8a-4:30p only; after that, you're on your own. We arrived after 5p & had to find someone who knew the front door code to let us in. (In fairness, I double-checked my reservation materials & saw that I was told to e-mail the hotel to get the code if we were arriving late, but I had overlooked that detail ... oops!) While the bus stops right in front of the hotel, you can't buy tickets on the bus ... you have to buy them at specific shops or at the hotel desk, but since we arrived after the desk closed, we were stuck on the island with nothing to eat the first night. And the hotel is a $75 cab-ride from the airport. Makes you wonder if you're really saving any money by staying in the suburbs. The double room was 2 single beds ... I asked if my wife & I could switch to a room with a double bed. I gathered that there aren't any & we were advised to push our beds together. Not a big deal, but just one more annoyance. Stockholm is a wonderful & beautiful city. I hope to return, but I wouldn't stay here again ... too much hassle, too inconvenient, & too far from the action.…
