Presumably they overbooked or accepted a better offer for our room but the reservation we had had for 2 months was just cancelled without so much as an apology. We received a message from booking.com whilst travelling in rural Alsace that the reservation had been cancelled. Needless to say most of the hotels in the very popular Epernay were fully booked.
Had a reservation here for 5th September but we received a message from booking.com on the 4th saying the reservation was cancelled. The reason given was that they couldn't clean it due to Covid-19. The alternative hotel could clean theirs so why not? You have to assume they got a more lucrative booking.
