Vacker miljö solstolar gav resort a skön känsla. Maten var utmärkt, bra urval val av val på middag. Blanda med andra resenärer var kul. Hela anläggningen var mycket rent och trevligt. Snorkling direkt utanför stranden var utmärkt, kan åka ut när som helst på dagen om du åker

I don’t think so (as of dec 2018). I actually wouldn’t let that worry you. I had point 4 which was renovated and frankly I was a bit over the open air shower by the end as crabs kept stumbling into it during the night. It was all part of the experience, but a regular bath would suit me fine next time. Also, the best snorkeling is in front of 1 and 2. There’s a bit less privacy, relatively speaking, but that just means you’ll see a few people walk past your place. Down at 3/4, you will see no one at all. If you’re a couple traveling without kids, I would get a regular beachfront bure down near point 3/4 which I think was bure 15. My mother had bure 10 and it was lovely with the open air shower and very private. The only benefit a point room has in my opinion is a little more square footage. Not needed for a couple, and the beachfront rooms are renovated. Hope that helps!

We were just in Point 4 and my son and fiancé in Point 3. Both bathrooms were mildly renovated. We had stayed in Point 3 previously and the exterior bathroom walls have been replaced. The toilet had been replaced and everything freshly painted. You will find Point 1 and 2 get a lot of smoke from the island rubbish dump burn off and you get a lot of stares from guests as you are close to the rocks which you have to walk over to walk the entire beach length. Point 3 and 4 are much further away so therefore hardly get anyone by them. In fact we left yesterday and I would say In the entire week we saw maybe ten people walk past. You’ll have a ball though! Don’t listen to other reviews about the allegedly rude or disinterested staff - they are all so lovely!!!

As I said a couple of Americans went north of the resort and were not allowed to stop at all. The only options that we know of for snorkelling at Octopus is directly out front of the resort all the way south to the volcanic rocks that hinder you and the same north. Not a really long stretch and the northern side of the resort is very cloudy water visual wise. There is a channel of coral cut out directly out from the dive shop/end of restaurant area. You have to 'fight' with every other water craft to get in and out unless it is very high tide where you can access the reef anywhere along the beach. The snorkelling is often tough going as the beach is very tidal, you really cannot just float and look around you are continually fighting with the waves/tide to stay put. Quite often you can be 'sitting' in a spot looking at something and then get washed over a high or low spot and having to fight your way back to the spot you were at prior. As I said we found the snorkelling better elsewhere. We are avid snorkelers and spend a large part of our day in the water so we were expecting better. If you are holidayers that are happy to lie by the beach and drink or hang around lazing by the pool with noisy kids then Octopus is great. Also if you are big eaters-the food supplied is good but WAY TOO much! We will not be returning to Octopus.

We were there a few months ago. To be honest I do not remember which numbered Bure which was which but I do not think it will matter. The resort is small. The beach is similar along the whole length, beautiful white sand. You can see up and down the whole length of it from any point. For snorkeling the best thing is to go to the outer reef. To do that you need to walk to the boat channel which is in front of the entrance, just a couple minutes from either Bure. Then swim out to the outer reef through the boat channel, about 100m. Then you can float up and down the outer reef in either direction. Doing that you can snorkel at any time of day and will be in the deepest water with the most fish. At low tide the reef is too shallow to snorkel over and you would not be able to snorkel directly in front of any of the bures.
