Sehr gemütlich, aber weit abgelegen

Wir haben ca. 1,5h benötigt um das Hotel zu finden. Die Adressangaben haben leider wenig genützt, genau wie der Kartenausschnitt unserer Buchungsseite. Auch die Einheimischen hatte große Mühe, das Hotel zu finden. Zu den großen Skianlagen in Are ist es relativ weit (ca. 30 min. mit Auto), kleine Liftanlagen sind jedoch in der Nähe. Gleich bei der Ankunft ist das freundliche Personal und die herzliche Atmosphäre aufgefallen. Die Gastfreundschaft hat über so manche kleine Unzulänglichkeit hinweg geholfen. Die Zimmer sind von unterschiedlicher Qualität. Wir hatten ein sehr gut ausgestattetes Zimmer und ein eher zweckmäßiges. Alle Zimmer waren sehr sauber. Abends gab es ein Buffet, welches im Großen und Ganzen in Ordnung war. Auch hier hat der freundliche Service über manche Kleinigkeiten hinweg geholfen. Morgens gab es ein Frühstücksbuffet, welches auch recht gut war. Das Hotel ist an sich empfehlenswert. Man sollte jedoch keine allzu großen Anforderungen an Komfort und Ausstattung stellen.…

Clean and great helpful staff

I found this place on the internet and had no idea what to expect. I was looking for a place that was not directly in Åre as to avoid larger crowds. When I arrived I found a remarkably friendly staff and a very clean hotel. The four bed room my daughters and I shared was very nice. It was decorated in very simple Swedish style. Two bunk beds and all beds were covered with duvet covers. We had a nice view of the mountains and the trees out the window. The hotel had a nice living room with a separate smoking room, which is very nice as a Californian who doesn’t enjoy smelling other peoples smoke. The living room has a fireplace and a television in it for people to share. While I visited, there was a Swedish hockey game on and many people congregated around the TV and rooted for their national team. I must add that, I found some other hotels in the area on the internet that showed pictures of fireplaces and how cozy people looked around them… The fireplace I found here, that was not pictured, was awesome. Big comfy chairs that my daughters and I shared while sitting around the fire place. Oh yeah, they have a ping pong table in the basement... Kids loved that. The restaurant provided breakfast, lunch and dinner. We always had our breakfast at the hotel; they offer room rates that include breakfast. Lunch was always eaten on the hill for us at the base. However, we ate dinner at the hotel every night of our stay. The meals were traditional Swedish dishes. We ate reindeer, moose, smoked salmon and I drank some Glögg (A swedish holiday hot wine drink with almonds and raisins). As an American it was fun to try the traditional dishes. The hotel is not directly at the slopes. I arrived by train from Malmo and had no car, but this was not a problem. The staff normally provides a snowmobile service to the mountain base. They didn’t have quite enough snow for the snowmobiles to run at the time, so they provided us a ride every day. If you arrive by car then you are 5 minutes to base village, very close. The town was quite small and everybody seemed to know each other and they all worked together to make my stay and others amazing. The hotel offered snowmobile tours and discounts on rentals at the base of the mountain. How to get I got here… There are two airports near this mountain and hotel. One is in Norway (and I don’t remember the name) and the other is called “Åre something Airport”. They call the airport Åre, but it is like 2 hours from Åre. I think the Norway airport is actually closer. I actually flew into Copenhagen, Denmark and took a train to Malmo, they run every 20min.. From malmo I took an overnight train to the Undersaker train station near Are. The train ride was an awesome experience. It was 13 hours and I got a room with three beds for me and my kids. There was even a restaurant car on the train and a movie theatre. We woke up just before our stop in Undersaker and got off the train and hopped in a Taxi to the hotel. [Look up Steffan’s taxi in Undersaker before arriving, although the number is on the wall in the train station.] I had such a great trip and so did my little girls.
