The precentation and collection are the best on the island and on par with the big Worldly Museua. Mineralogical and paleontological experience with beautiful A-class items on display. They even discovered Rododelphis stamatiadisi tgat was named in his honour. Even our 8yearold son enjoyed it!

Very cool little museum with genuine owners who collected the items partly themselves, from across the continent. These beautiful crystals and rocks has to be experienced in reality. There's are also pictures from the excavations here, some tools, and last but not least some fossils ranging from pre history amphibians and dinosaurs, such as the megadolon tooth! This is something special you do not see at other museums.
The owners was very nice and friendly who opened up the museum for us when we arrived. After the visit, you are also welcome to take a relaxing drink at the bar/restaurant.

Rigtig fint og gratis lille privat-museum med mange krystaller og fossiler. Manden som fandt det hele åbner selv museet for dig og lader dig kigge. Han fortæller også meget gerne om sine fund. Vi købte et par sten med hjem, når museet nu er gratis. Han har også et hotel/restaurant foran museet, hvis museet er lukket, så gå ind og find ham, så åbner han. Kan varmt anbefale at kigge forbi dette lille, fine sted.

We happened to be right next to Mr. Stamatiadis museum which is housed inside a hotel unit with rooms to let and a restaurant, not yet knowing about it and passing by outside on the first day of our stay in Ialysos,Rhodes.we immediately put it on the targets for a visit. We saw pieces of geological history that I personally had not seen anywhere else and it turned out to be one of the most interesting places we visited during our 7 days stay (excluding the well-known tourist resorts).
Obviously we unreservedly recommend to those who are , or will be in Rhodes.
I believe I am allowed to mention that one of the exhibits is named after Mr. Stamatiadis as it does not seem that there was a corresponding documented recording of the species and the corresponding finding is accompanied by photographic material and artistic depiction.
Extra clue, on the penultimate day we found in the 7 springs sight ,pebbles with a part of a leaf fossil , which we showed to him and in a short and comprehensive discussion with him he explained to us what it was that we had in our hands. We felt awe from the information we received, as students in front of a teacher and we realized what our temporal relationship with the planet is. It will obviously adorn the living room as the most essential souvenir of the trip.
P.S .: And imagine it all started by simply asking for a coffee from the restaurant in front of the museum, which he made himself before we knew what he actually does

Questo posto è un piccolo gioiello che non dovete perdervi...troverete tantissimi minerali e fossili provenienti da ogni parte del mondo, ed il proprietario sarà lieto di spiegarvi la storia di ognuno.
Una menzione straordinaria merita la recente scoperta (nel 2020) dello scheletro di un'orca, così ben conservato che si è potuto comprendere tantissime informazioni utili sulle orche, motivo per il quale il 16 maggio 2022 il Prof. Giovanni Bianucci dell'Università di Pisa (Italia), ha ringraziato ufficialmente Stamatiadis per aver contribuito allo studio pubblicato su Journal Current Biology, con questo ritrovamento.
Assolutamente da visitare!!!!

Amazing little museum with fossils and different kinds of rocks. Even though it may not sound interesting at first the tour guide (owner of the nearby restaurant) makes the experience amazing!

Kleines und kostenloses, aber trotzdem sehr schönes Museum. Der Besitzer hat viel von den Ausstellungsstücken und seinen Reisen erzählt, bei welchen er die Mineralien und Fossilien gefunden hat.

What an amazing little museum. So many amazing fossils, crystals and stones. A must see if your in the area. The museum is free but you can give donations or buy something from the gift shop. I picked a beautiful blue Azourite which was found on the island. It feels very special to take something so beautiful home with me. Thank you so much to the lovely owners. You have a real gem here.

Ein sehr schönes kleines Mineralien Museum mit einem netten freundlichen Inhaber, der vieles alleine gesammelt hat und einem viel erklärt. Kostenloser Eintritt.

It's mostly the (enormous) personal collection of the owner! He showed us around and told us the stories of the different pieces. And could explain everything about every piece. He also wanted to show us what a piece would look like under the microscope. It was a really personal tour and we enjoyed it a lot. It's a beautiful museum. He even discovered a new species of an orca.

Why was it closed during the advertised opening times on the 2 occasions we went? Sign says open 9am to 1pm. Both times we went before 12 noon and after 10am.

I would like to know how you gain access as we tried twice in the advertised opening times only to find it closed. Very disappointing and a waste of our time having walked a fair way to it both times.
