Beautiful Fall Colors
okt. 2021 • Par
Beautiful drive with lots of fall colors! Stop at the ranger station just outside of Logan at the start of the drive to pick up an auto map. It will give you information about the drive by mile markers. I’m glad we picked one up or we would have missed some sites like the cave with bats. The map was available even when they were closed. We drove to Garden City and then back.

Do the drive in late September or early October. The changing leaves are spectacular. You come out to view the awesome clear blue water of Bear Lake.

Beautiful Drive on the way to Bear Lake. Be sure to stop at the Hobbit Caves off of Right Hand Fork Road. Cute little hidden Gem!

Beautiful drive

A really lovely drive - not so much fun with a truck following too close behind and no real place to pull out - but scenery is gorgeous.

Great Fall Colors
okt. 2020
Fall colors here were magnificent. Especially the aspen and the bigtooth maples. Highly recommend this drive during the week on a clear fall day.

A must see during the fall
sep. 2020
Went to Ogden canyon the week before and it was a let down. However this drive made up for it and so much more!

There are PLENTY of places to pull over and do various things. You can take pics, hike, rock climb, picnic, and fish. If youre coming from Salt Lake, at the beginning of the byway about 20 min in to your right, theres a hidden place where you can picnic right along the river. It is peaceful, spacious, shady and surprisingly no one was there!

Roads are wide and theres plenty to do here and different roads within that go for miles. There was no toll for this beautiful drive. Visitor center is closed, but the bathrooms on the right side are open during the day. There is no signal inside the national forest, so plan for that too.

We will definitely come back and make the drive from there to bear lake next summer!

Amazing drive!
juli 2020 • Par
We were looking for a different route back into Utah after visiting Yellowstone and Grand Teton, and luckily we chose the route that took us through Logan Canyon. What a beautiful drive!! Coming from the north, we had the added pleasure of getting to see Bear Lake (WOW!) from ground level, then from above as the road climbed toward the canyon. We stopped several times along the way to take in the amazing views and scenery, then spent the night in Logan and came back the next morning to do the Wind Cave hike when it was cool.
DEFINITELY worth the trip!

Beautiful Scenery With Easy Trail Walking
sep. 2020
So last year coming back from Jackson I did this route and stopped to hike a bit along the river closer down by Logan. This year, it's September, and I'm exploring the nature trail around Tony Grove Lake. It's just up from the 89 road summit. Really, who needs the Swiss Alps when you can have this remarkable scenery. The short trail circumvents the lake and there are cleared beach areas for fishing or just relaxing and drinking in the views. I noticed some people with camp chairs had already staked out favorite spots. The mountains surrounding are dolomite and quartzite. Two higher country trails, Naomi Peak and White Pine Lake, also lead off from this trailhead. Note there is generally someone collecting an entry fee at the parking. If you have any federal land pass, that will cover it. If you don't mind a bit of a walk, you can hike in the back way from below the campground. There's actually a small parking area there.

Great views in the snow
jan. 2020 • Familj
We decided to take this route on our way back to Pennsylvania on our out west trip. There was probably 12” of snow everywhere with ice in the creek that ran along most of the way up from Logan, UT. The roads were a bit icy but doable. Beautiful scenery. Glad we took it in. This will take you right to Bear Lake. There are two gas stations near Bear Lake.
