“Tall, beautiful, not as crowded”

Gillar jag detta mer än Multnomah för det faktum var det inte lika tätbefolkat. The falls hade en härlig pool i botten och området bakom falls. Det finns inga skyltar att säga att bo på den trail, men det kunde vara avsedda. Om du vill ha att utforska, det är lätt att få bakom den falls.

Vår första vattenfall i den gorge, och på 249 meter, var en sådan en upplevelse. Du kan faktiskt gå hela vägen bakom falls, men du får vått! Vi gillade verkligen den kort promenad till den falls. Det är bäst att komma dit tidigt, eftermiddagssolen görar för ett tufft fotografi. Fantastiskt ställe!

This is probably the 2nd best waterfall on the columbia gorge after multnomah. The hike is a short one to it , its on the old highway not 1-84. Once you walk through a short pathway to the falls you are greeted by a spectacular sight,the sound of the flowing water, the different colors of the rocks and the green micro organisms on the rocks make this a sight to see, if you choose only two waterfalls on the gorge drive besides multnomah, visit this one. I also would recommend horsetail falls as its near this falls

Perfect - easily accessible from I-84, lush greenery, beautiful falls!

We hiked in late August on a weekday afternoon. Perfect! We practically had the trail to ourselves! We did the 2 miles loop to the upper falls then down past a tree you could walk through. Finished out the hike going under the bridge and had a closer look at the lower falls. The hike itself had some steep parts and rocky parts but mostly smooth. This was the perfect hike for my 50+ knees.

Favorite Columbia Gorge Falls

This is actually our favorite waterfall that we have been to in the portion of the Columbia Gorge we have been to. It is not as crowded as Multnomah and you can take a fairly short, moderate trail to the bottom of the falls, where you can feel the mist from it. The volcanic basalt columns are impressive, and you can go off the main trail to go behind the falls if you want.

Graceful and Refreshing

We drove the waterfall corridor on the 4th of July and were worried about crowds and parking. Due to the holiday we were unable to book trolley or shuttle tickets, they were all sold out. We drove along the historic highway 30 and arrived at La Tourelle around noon. I think it was one of our most favorite of all the waterfalls we visited. It's steep hheight and the mist of water cooling us off on a hot day added to healing power of mother water. We were able to find a parking spot with no trouble despite the lot looking full as we turned into it. Someone pulled out and we got a spot! We hiked down to the bottom of the falls and sat with our feet in the pool, cooling our feet on a hot day. It felt refreshing and despite the holiday, it did not feel terribly overcrowded.

Absolute paradise

Latourell Falls was an absolute paradise for me, Cherry Wonderdog, and my human companion. The moment we arrived, I could sense the excitement in the air. The trail leading to the falls was a joy to explore, with plenty of new scents to discover along the way. The lush green surroundings and the soothing sound of water rushing downstream provided the perfect backdrop for an adventure. The best part was when we finally reached the falls, and I could feel the cool mist on my fur. I couldn't resist the temptation to splash around in the crystal-clear pools at the base of the falls, much to the amusement of my human. It was a refreshing and exhilarating experience that made me feel alive and connected to nature.

What impressed me the most about Latourell Falls was the friendly atmosphere and the number of furry friends I encountered along the trail. It seemed like every dog in the area had gathered there for a playdate. We had a blast chasing each other, wagging our tails, and enjoying the great outdoors. The humans were also very welcoming, often stopping to pet me and exchange stories about their own four-legged companions. It was heartwarming to see how Latourell Falls brought people and their dogs together, creating a sense of community and shared joy.

I must mention the fantastic picnic area near the falls. After our adventure, my human and I sat down to enjoy a well-deserved treat. We shared some delicious snacks while basking in the beauty of the surroundings. The peaceful ambiance and the gentle rustling of leaves provided the perfect setting for a moment of relaxation. It was a wonderful way to end our visit to Latourell Falls, and I couldn't have asked for a better day out with my favorite human.

In conclusion, Latourell Falls is a dog's dream come true. From the thrilling hike to the refreshing waters and the warm camaraderie with fellow canines, this place has it all. It's a haven for dogs and their humans to bond, explore, and create memories that will last a lifetime. If you have a furry friend by your side, don't miss the opportunity to visit Latourell Falls and experience the joy and wonder it has to offer.

My favorite falls

I spent an entire day driving and hiking among all the Columbia River Gorge falls, and this one was my favorite. It's just as spectacular as the nearby Multnomah Falls, but less people especially if you arrive early. I'd suggest doing the loop trail to see the upper and lower falls.

A nice short hike that is doable for all members of the family ends with this wonderful waterfall. This is a really lovely hike especially in the fall.

Personal Favorite!

This was my favorite waterfall that I had visited when I came to Portland in August of 2022. It's part of the Waterfall Corridor and was the first place my boyfriend and I stopped at to check out.

There is a small parking lot, so come early if possible to grab a spot! The overview was already quite beautiful in my opinion since you can see the waterfall in the distance. The signs do let you know that there are 2 ways to see the falls: upper and lower portions of it. We chose to do the lower falls as it was an easier and shorter "hike" (I say this with air quotes cause it's literally just a level 1 on the stair master).

It was about a 5 minute walk to the base of the falls, and it was glorious! It was starting to get a bit warmer when we got there, so the spray of the water was quite refreshing. I will say to definitely watch your step as it could get a bit slippery being so close to the falls. Once you're done playing paparazzi, you can continue down the route, cross the bridge, then loop back to the parking lot.

Cute falls with easy 5-minute walk to bottom

We spent about 30 minutes total here. We first did a two minute walk up to a overlook. And then we took a five minute walk to the bottom of the falls. We enjoyed our time here.

Nice Falls, Limited Parking

Not the best of the waterfalls along the route, but still fun. There is a very small parking lot. We went in early may, before the season and on a rainy day, so we were ok. But otherwise, the best way to see this falls is probably on a tour. It is a very short walk from the lot
