Fine Dining in Sand Springs?
maj 2020
Sand Springs is just West of Tulsa about 5 miles, a blue collar industrial manufacturing community. Dining is mostly blue collar, franchise 'Burgers, Fish & Chips, etc. No fine dining. Walter Munaretto, a former manager of the Summit Club in Tulsa had retired 5 years ago, lives in Sand Springs and got the itch to start an Italian Restaurant. Main street in SS is mostly old empty buildings. Well, 208 North Main, is European! Two darkened windows with Sirens etched in, enter you to Little Venice! The walls are stressed brick and stucco, with dark wood paneling. with low lighting, you hear the sound of the piano near the kitchen.
Walter greets you to offer anti pasta, we had sauted mushrooms and a flat noodle, in a savory sauce. The wine list is all Italian, table side Ceasar, genuine Italian food, a Italian Pastry chef, out standing, destersts to die for, an tableside Flaming Bananas foster for desert. Been twice in tha last 10 days. Must have reservations because of Cornaviris table spacing restrictions. Rex Graves

That Art Deco Building!
apr. 2019
The exhibits were well put together including the permanent collection that tells the history of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. However, the true gem is the beautifully preserved Art Deco building that used to be the library. Be sure and look at the Tennessee pink marble, the light fixtures, cork floor, grand staircase and talk to the volunteers!

Great Piece of OK HIstory
juli 2017 • Familj
This is a good place to look around on a hot July day in Oklahoma. We visited with our two grandchildren. They enjoyed the two story complex, especially the arrowhead collection and the little house front. The best news is that the museum is free. The lady who was there did a wonderful job in telling about the history of Sandsprings. This alone was well worth the stop.

This museum tells an an amazing, true story, of a man by the name of Charles page, a wildcat oil man back near the turn of the century, that single handily established this town and a foundation that as helped thousands, if not tens of thousands, of orphans, and widows with children, since about 1909, and is still helping these needy people today, without one pinny of government s assistance! This amazing true story will be a movie someday, as it should be, there is a book "A Fools Enterprise" by Opal Bennefield Clark.

A local museum with changing displays
feb. 2016 • Ensam
This is a local museum located in the old Page Memorial Library building. It is a fine example of 1930's art deco architecture, both inside and out. The library was built and donated to the city by Mrs. Lucile Page, widow of Charles Page, in 1929 and features memorabilia, art and artifacts honoring the city’s history.
I used to bring the kids here when it was the library, it is still an impressive building.
There is a wheelchair entrance at the back of the building, so you can avoid the many stairs at the front.
The current main display is about the Sand Springs Home & Widow's Colony.
There is also a genealogical research area in the basement.
The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
It is open Tuesday - Friday 1:00 - 5:00 and Saturday from 11:00 - 3:00
Admission is free, donations are accepted
