Windy Gyle, Hedgehope and The Cheviot
sep. 2020 • Vänner
Windy Gyle lived up to it’s name, pretty good walk not to challenging and decent views.

The next day Hedgehope was 55mile/hr winds so that was really challenging. Didn’t want to stay long at the top holding onto the trig point.

The next day the weather calmed and we did The Cheviot via the long walk up the valley, great views and I’d recommend the valley route which is Langleeford up to Cairn Hill then up onto the Cheviot itself👍

The National Park area is fantastic.
aug. 2020
Harthope Valley is a short drive from the centre of Wooller and is part of the Northumberland National Park (just follow the National Park signs). It is a stunning area that can be accessed by a decent road that includes several parking areas.

The landscape includes moorland, hills, forests, streams and has lots of different hiking and walking trails. It is a great place to visit.

Perhaps England's loveliest place
jan. 2020
There are plenty of beautiful places in our country but the Cheviots have something special. On a walk up the hills or along the valleys, you can find yourselves alone for much of the day to enjoy the fabulous, peaceful scenery. It's a place to lose yourself and take in the sweetest of air.

Absolutely gorgeous
jan. 2020
We drove up the road out of Wooler to Earle and turned right into a beautiful gorge like grassy, steep valley. We parked at the very top where there is a turning space for agricultural vehicles. Then we walked up onto the moor on a brilliant dry track. This was a lovely sunny January day and the visibility and views were amazing. There were grouse chattering everywhere and lots of unspoiled moorland. It was absolutely gorgeous up there and we walked with our dog on the lead for a few miles before turning back towards our vehicle in readiness for our picnic. What a lovely hidden gem this whole area is.

Hiking and running in the Cheviot Hills
dec. 2019 • Vänner
Spend a few days running and hiking in the Cheviot Hills. Good and visible signposting all over. The area is really beautiful and you feel totally on your own, while in the area. It takes some navigation and hiking skills, but you are rewarded with amazing scenery and typical northern english weather.

excellent views and walking

Get away from the hustling and bustling holiday spots and visit the hills of North Northumberland. The space is magnificent and the roads quiet. There are lots of walking guide books so don your boots, buy a map and pack a rucksack......
Visit sites of ancient rock carvings called cups and rings. Local tourist information will give you details. We saw them at Router Lin and to remember that this is art from about 3000 BC... truely astonishing
