Those of us who have lived in Denver for decades are still excited to get out of the city to one of the parks for a picnic or hike.

Lack development, at least in the last 100 years. It's kind of like a random spot in the front range. They need daome sort of development/improvements to make them worth going too.

6 of our family group spent half a day hiking along paths in the Red Rocks Park on the western side of Denver. The vistas and rock formations are spectacular, and good walking/hiking paths well maintained. All this is free to the public.

Someone must have been blessed with vision and wisdom when Denver began acquisition and development of its wonderful chain of mountain parks. Many of us who have lived in Denver for decades still thrill to get out of town to one of the parks (Personal favorite is Mt. Falcon) for a picnic or a hike.

De ahì el nombre COLORADO. Es un sitio màgico, en medio del colorido de las montañas, con ese color particular. En un ambiente muy agradable, con un escenario para conciertos muy espectacular.

Red Rocks was the only one of the Denver Mountain parks that we were able to get to, and it was worth the trip. Gorgeous setting, and nice hiking trails. Lots of sun exposure, so go early in the day. Good for birds as well.

Amazing beauty in every direction. Enjoy many different environments as you traverse through these parks. Mountains, forest, valleys, and tundra to name a few. Pictures don’t do it justice.

Shame that we missed a great concert the week before we arrive and the week after we left! But even without a concert, the views were to die for!

Wanting to do a light hike and see some red rocks end of February! Any tips on where to go/ get dropped off if we were to Lyft there? Any non-tour guide bus options to get dropped off and picked up?

Red Rocks by the Amphitheater is gorgeous and has some easy trails to loop around not sure what February would be like we where there in September. There was buses and tour vans in the parking lot. Might be able to contact them and ask.

I’m planning on booking the Denver Mountain parks tour (half day without citytour) with my dad on november 26th. However this is our departure day. I can see the departure time is at 8:30 and it’s a 4 hours tour. Is the 4 hours including driving from the city info the mountains? I just want to make sure that we are back in time to catch our plane to Amsterdam at 17:30.

If you are going to Denver start at the Four Mile Historic Post (2 hour time), then go Downtown to Colorado history museum. Visit Rocky Mountain National park, lots of trails there (full day+). Head towards Aspen through Independence Pass, stop at the top (12,095 feet Continental Divide) & visit Maroon Bells. The drive to and from is awesome with breathtaking views. Maroon Bells has several hiking trails. I wish I had spent longer there and got their earlier. Downtown Aspen has a must see gallery from Peter Lik (famous photographer). In Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods is an awesome place & you can see Pike's Peak in the distance. Visit Manitou Springs for lunch. Always check the road conditions prior to any mountain visit. This will be a trip your family will not forget. My daughter lives there & this would be my suggestion. Gives you an all around experience of the beautiful mountain range. Enjoy!
I cant find a proper address for this park. Map shows three different mountain parks..pls help..TIA

Also, please remember; when someone says : "I know a beautiful place in the mountains", I have to smile. There is possibly nowhere in the Rockies that is not beautiful. You cannot drive more than perhaps an hour into the Rockies whereupon you will find a place, a view, something that will leave you in awe. Including, if you are coming from the east, the entire front range. After 45 years here, I am still in awe of this place, called the Rocky Mountains...:-)

How long was the drive from Denver.

About and hour + a bit. You will see the plants change, as you head south from Denver, as you enter the edge of the desert. Colorado Springs is a gorgeous town. Across the way from the Broadmoor, is a superb museum; cars, transportation, and Native American and artifacts. The museum is not as well known as many, but superb.
