Eskimos is the name of a tour guide company that provided us with one of the best tour guides we have ever had! Her name was Ruth and we absolutely loved her! She was our driver as well as our tour guide and picked us up from the airport when we arrived and drove us to the Blue Lagoon (where we had a fantastic time), waited for us to be done, then drove us to our hotel. The next day we had a full day tour of Iceland's South Coast, during which Ruth showed us many beautiful waterfalls, some that you could even walk behind! In the middle of our day, Ruth drove us to Vik, where we had a reservation to ride the Icelandic horses on a black sand beach! Outstanding! She was very knowledgeable about Iceland and its history, and we drove through some gorgeous countryside. The highlight of our day was a BBQ picnic in a local CAVE! She actually grilled some excellent lamb chops and sides for us! What a great time, and so very unique! Highly recommend!

We had the BEST guides. Dora took us to the western part of Iceland north of Reykjavik- we saw amazing waterfalls, Icelandic horses and goats! We had a delicious lunch at a small tomato hothouse. Dora also treated us to a morning picnic with authentic Icelandic fish, skyr and treats. Bring a professional chef, her insights to the climate and food was so interesting!
We also had a great driver in Jon, who picked us up at the airport, took us on a beautiful tour of the south coast , and then picked us up again on our last day and took us to the Blue Lagoon before dropping us at the airport
He was fun, knowledgeable and also so caring of Iceland’s environment and climate.
We highly recommend The Eskimo travel agency - they were terrific!

Terrible! Please stay away from these people. They overcharge for everything and schedule multiple things in the same day so you never get to see it all and waste your time and money. They schedules the golden circle WITH the snowmobile adventure the same day! The golden circle takes 8 hours and the snowmobile takes 5. They know this and still book it together you never experience the whole thing because both things clash. The next day three was a snowstorm, but instead of cancelling like other tour operators do, they still send the driver and even though he sits there and does nothing they still charge you. Wasted a lot of money with them and cannot stress enough how imperative it is for you to stay away from Eskimos.

We had a weeklong family trip to Iceland in Sept booked through Kensington Tours, which uses Eskimos as their local tour guides, and we loved it! We were lucky to have Ragnar as our guide, and despite weather challenges forcing some adjustments to the itinerary, and some very long days for him on the road, he kept his sense of humor and was great the whole time. He is very knowledgeable, easy-going, told good stories, took us to all the places we wanted to go (going above and beyond to make it happen), and made it great fun. He made the (smart) decision to change our vehicle to a more compact, less high one, given the gale-force winds, and drove skillfully through it all. We highly recommend Ragnar and Eskimos! Thanks, Ragnar!! (And greetings from California and South Africa!) :)

Firstly I should mention we didn't book directly with Eskimos, rather they were the local company used by an intermediary. However, when we go back we will go directly to Eskimos without hesitation!
The itinerary was excellent, our guide was unbelievably fantastic and the whole trip was unforgettable. We had a couple of issuer-ettes on our 9-day trip, but our guide resolved everything with Eskimos including some on the fly changes without us really getting involved - all went to make our trip better, easier, more enjoyable and relaxing.

I just came back from a 2-day South Coast private tour with Eskimos, along with 3 of my friends. Sebastien (from Eskimos) was great about customizing a tour that met our sightseeing and financial needs. Our tour guide, Jon, was fantastic! He took us to all of the places we asked to see, as well as some other "hidden gems" that he thought would be worthwhile. He provided us with so much cultural and historical information we wouldn't have otherwise gotten and he was extremely personable, professional and fun to be around. Our trip duration in Iceland was 10 days, and our South Coast tour was definitely the highlight! Thank you!

From the moment I initiated contact with Eskimos, they were professional, super responsive, and just plain amazing. Fantastic hotel choice, wonderful restaurant bookings, great tour selections. Their allocation of our budget was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation for a 4-day romantic vacation - snowmobiling, horseback riding, Blue Lagoon Retreat Spa, lavish tasting menus. Cannot thank Sally Kopp and Agnes enough for all their efforts! We will be recommending Eskimos to friends/family!! xoxo

We had a 7-day itinerary booked via Scott Dunn with Eskimos. Our tour guide and driver was Gisli, who started with us from the moment we touched down at Keflavik until he dropped us off for our departure. Scott Dunn had recommended that we go with a private guided tour approach for Iceland and this worked out perfectly.
Being with the same guide for so long can turn out to be really good or bad depending on the chemistry between the guide and the group. In this case, it was super great awesome (I ran out of positive words). I think Gisli gave some input on the proposed schedule several weeks before we arrived and his suggestions were very good.
During the actual tour, we also had ongoing discussions about shfiting around some itineraries and, all throughout such discussions, Gisli gave very sound advice without being forceful. We soon learned that any muted suggestions he gave -- "you might want to take that walk from Arnastapi to Hellnar, if you want..." -- are very good suggestions and you should take them up.
I don't want to give away what we saw because the attraction of Iceland is really the initial moment - the first time you see the landscape, geyser, the sky and so on. But please seriously consider Eskimos as a thorughly professional and caring outfit and clearly a very good choice if you are thinking of a private tour of Iceland.

We were looking for a private 7 day tour of Iceland for our family of 7. Having limited time, we concentrated on southern Iceland, the Golden Circle, and Thorsmork. We booked our travel through Jacada Travel and Eskimos is their partner in Iceland. Once we landed, we were immediately picked up in a luxurious Mercedes van by Ragnar, our guide for the next 4 days. In short, Ragnar was absolutely amazing. He quickly learned our desire to see and do as much as possible in the time we had and he did not disappoint. In Reykjavik, we were treated to a walking tour through the city with a lot of explanations, stories, etc., from Ragnar. He was obviously very knowledgeable and had many stories to share. We had also opted for a “foodie tour” and Ragnar took us to several restaurants for a taste of traditional Icelandic dishes. All were excellent (although some of us may disagree as far as the fermented shark and dried fish jerky are concerned!).
After two days in Reykjavik, we departed for the countryside in southern Iceland. Again, Ragnar was an amazing guide, showing us so many beautiful sites (glaciers, glacier lagoons, waterfalls, volcanos, etc.), and spending much more time with us than he was obligated to do. Two of our days wound up being 12 hour days and we were thankful for Ragnar’s desire to spend so much time with us.
After Ragnar’s time with us, Omar spent two days with us, touring in a heavily modified and luxurious 4x4. This enabled us to visit many sites that would be impossible with a typical vehicle. Omar was also a fantastic guide, so knowledgeable in Icelandic history and culture. In addition to visiting Geysir and the many sites of the Golden Circle, Omar took us to our glacier snowmobiling excursion. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The experience of being on top of a mountain on top of a glacier, with the panoramic 360 degree views, was amazing. We all said we would like to do this again someday.
Thorsmork was a rugged mountain ridge and valley that is best explored by 4x4. Omar was a great guide here, showing us many sites and leading us on hikes through the remnants of glacier lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, and the like.
When the time came for us to leave for the airport for our trip home, Ragnar picked us up and made sure we were delivered to KEF on time.
It’s hard to imagine we could have enjoyed our time in Iceland more and Eskimos did a fantastic job!

Hi there, just wondering the name of this tour company, I want to go to Iceland after xmas but want to go husky sledding. can you advise the name please - thank you
Skrivet 12 oktober 2017
Hi,
Is there dry land dog sledding which can be done in one day? If yes, approximately how long does this take? Thanks very much!
Skrivet 9 juli 2017
Oops, I see you posted this a while ago and I hope you got an answer. I have done dry land dog sledding twice, which I booked through Eskimos both times - they run on trolleys with wheels instead of sleds. There are different tour lengths but generally it's not an all day trip - just an hour or so. You may be able to arrange longer. I found the Eskimos team really helpful so if you e-mail them direct they'll send you any info you need.

My husband and I will be flying into Retkavik on October 18, 2017 and leaving on October 25. We need assistance in planning our visit. We want to see the Northern Lights, the Golden Ring, volcano, and more. Here are our questions:
Is it better to stay in Reykavik the entire time or go into the county and stay there for a few nights? Any lodging recommendations?
Thank you.
Skrivet 23 januari 2017
Hi !
Thanks for your request. It's always better if you have 4 days or more to stay one or two nights the countryside. We recommend Hotel Rangá, Stracta or Grimsborgir for example on the south coast. Have you looked at our "amazing Northern Lights package on our website ? Please don't hesitate to send us an inquiry eskimos@eskimos.is. Looking forward to hearing from you !

Hi, there! My fiance and I are visiting Reykjavik for a couple of days around November 20th, 2016. We are looking for a private tour guide to show us, and take us, to the stunning sights, and ideally take our engagement pictures. I am a photographer, so I have the equipment and knowledge, we just need someone to snap the pictures! Any suggestions?
