Not cheap but even on a miserable, drizzly day in March, Glendurgan Garden is well worth seeking out. The paths are well maintained and both wheelchair and pushchair friendly, although steep in places. Lots of interesting flowers. Plenty of parking, although could be full at busy times.

Visited this lovely garden en route from Penzance to Falmouth. If you are thinking of doing the same we suggest you do NOT take the seemingly direct route through Constantine as the roads can only be described as horrendous! Although it is a little longer it is in fact much quicker to continue on the A349 and drop down from above. None of this is the fault of the garden which, even on a wettish day, is quite spectacular

Attractive and well cared for garden with interesting garden buildings and maze. Circuit goes down to coastal path. Pleasant cafe.

Lovely NT garden and spring a good time to visit for the camellia’s and magnolias. Walked to the bottom of the garden and extended walk by going along the coastal path for a few miles before returning to the gardens. Some paths a bit steep but main route is on good gravel paths so access to main parts of garden is fairly easy. Maze was fun and took a while to get to the middle! A lovely day out

We visited whilst on holiday in Falmouth. I think it's one of the nicest National Trust gardens we've visited. It is steep in places so be aware.

Beautiful gardens, well laid out with good signage leading you down to the cove and village and back up again. Didn't quite get to the middle of the maze. Good cafe too.

Went in February and it was still fantastic, lots to see and lots of wildlife about even so early in the year. The maze was great fun and has a lovely seating area in the middle. Very close to multiple beaches, a great attraction for any time of year!

We spent an enjoyable afternoon here in early October. While the gardens are not huge there are several paths leading down through the valley, some of them step free. There are lovely views down to the coast. We also walked out through the little Durgan village and spent a while walking along the small beach enjoying the views of the estuary.
The Coast Path runs across the bottom of the gardens giving the chance to explore the coast both ways.

Great garden to wander down to the sea, and back up a not quite so steep slope. Lovely autumnal colours and textures, maze looks interesting. Cream tea in the cafe delicious

Although there are similarities to nearby Trebah, it hasn't quite got the same wow factor. There's plenty of lush green foliage but not a lot of colour at this time of year. The maze is good fun. Shady paths wind through the tall trees and down the valley to a tiny village and a pebbly beach which is nice. Paths are quite steep so be prepared for the climb back up!

I couldn't agree more! 'Inferior' is exactly how I'd compare Glendurgan to Trebah. It's a disgrace that NT doesn't allow dogs into their properties, especially in Cornwall.

I’m not sure that’s true , when I was visiting Chartwell ( Churchill’s home now run by the NT ) I saw that dogs were allowed !
I’d imagine it’s because if it’s primarily a garden you can’t “ rope “ off areas and dog urine would damage the many plants etc -
At Chartwell the rose garden , etc were indeed separated but there were loads of people enjoying a picnic on the grounds and walking their dogs !

There are 2 access points one at the NT village at the lower extent of the gardens and also the Main beach at the Ferry Inn a pleasant walk on country lanes but about 2km Warning there are steep incline on both routes!

Hooked on the Rocks is about ten min drive away - amazing seafood. Or Budock Vean hotel is 3 mins drive. Have fun!

Is it easy to push a pram around the gardens and are there shady seats where you can feed baby?

Yes you can easily push a pram around as there are paths for wheelchairs without steps, there are benches all the way along the paths where you can stop and feed, some are well recessed for privacy.

There is a designated route for wheelchairs which would be as suitable for prams. However parts of the paths are cobbled so might be a slightly bumpy ride! The gardens are quite shady and there is an old schoolhouse with seating part way round.

You say dogs not allowed in the garden, does this include walks to the river or just the formal garden?

Hi - the village of Durgan is also National Trust owned but dogs are allowed all year round. Access is either along the SW coast path or you can park in the NT car park at the top of the valley and take the half mile walk down to the beach.

How far are the gardens from Falmouth? Is it walkable along the coast path from Falmouth & if so approximately how long would it take?
Thank you.
The garden is a 15 minute drive from Falmouth. You can reach the garden by walking the coast path, it will take 2-3 hours from Falmouth. When you reach Durgan village, you can then access Glendurgan Garden.
