Our first time attending a horse race at Red Shores Racetrack in Summerside was nothing short of amazing! From start to finish, it was an unforgettable experience that we'll cherish forever.
Upon arrival, we decided to have lunch at the restaurant, and we were pleasantly surprised by the decent meal and excellent friendly service. It set the tone for the rest of our day.
After lunch, we decided to explore the casino and wander around outside. We struck up a conversation with a staff member and, feeling adventurous, asked if we could have a tour. To our delight, they obliged, and we were treated to an insider's look at the facilities. It was so cool!
But the highlight of our day was undoubtedly meeting Rock (ItsstillagoodtimetoROCK)! This charming horse stole our hearts, and we were lucky enough to spend some time with him and his family in the stables. They were a super friendly bunch, and it was an experience we'll never forget.
And of course, the races themselves were an absolute blast! I must admit, I enjoyed them even more than I thought I would. The excitement in the air, the thrill of the competition—it was truly electrifying.
Thank you, Red Shores Racetrack, for providing us with such a memorable day. We can't wait to come back again someday! 🐎✨

good food, expensive at times, lots to do, harness racing on site on certain days and times, casino available, live simulcast racing from other places in Canada and the US all the time

My friends and I dine fairly regularly at the West End Bar and Grill at Red Shores. The staff are professional. The menu covers all the food groups at reasonable prices. More importantly, the food is wholesome and tasty. That’s why we keep coming back.

We were exploring Summerside and stopped at this racetrack. There was not a race the first day we went as there was practice. We stood at the rail and watched several go by, smiling and waving as their trotter went by. We met a nice man who turned out to be the president of the association. He was so nice and explained things to us and offered several opportunities for us to see more. We decided to go back several times for the races from opening day on the weekends. Betting was easy and everyone was nice. There were tables outside along with a restaurant and tables inside with large windows to watch the race. There was a casino too which we did not do. We really enjoyed our time watching the horses so we concentrated on the horses. The facility was open to walk around through the barns to watch them get ready for the races and several owners let us pet the horses. One even took their horse out for us the take a picture with their winner. It was so much fun and even if you don't bet you will love seeing the horses and everyone is friendly. But I did bet on 6 races and won! Should have bet more but won a little over $20. Enough for lunch! We will go again when we go back to PEI!

The Summerside Red Shores Racetrack and Casino is an easily accessible venue and one which can be enjoyed by individuals and families alike. There is ample no charge parking, an outdoor patio at track side, as well as a covered viewing area and excellent restaurant . Para mutual betting and a gaming section is available. The facility is well designed, clean and Security patrolled. Red Shores race track is a definite highlight in the \fair isle' town of Summerside, PEI, by the bay.

They advertise this as a casino but all they had were the VLT's from Atlantic Lotto. I was really disappointed. I could go to any Doolys and get the same experience.
It is not a casino like Charlottetown Halifax or Moncton with slots. Just a bunch of VLT's

Loved the family atmosphere and gathering place. Races exciting and food great. Plenty of parking and small casino a bonus.

We go here several times a summer. On our last visit in July, we noticed that they have considerably less slot machines and have gotten rid of most of the the fun ones!
I don't think we will be going back, it was a complete disappointment.
I guess we will have to make the drive to Charlottetown to play the fun machines there.
