Not as much information was provided in order to make it interesting. Looks more like an afterthought of something that had the potential to be something much more. Others had stopped and spent less than 5 minutes here.

For the local history buffs in the Fort Erie, Ontario area this is a historic date for those that have a passion for local history. A small but well maintened park. It has various displays that outlines the importance of this date in local hidstotry. It is not the only histotric site within the Nisgara Region but certainly worth the visit. Two flags has a mark outling those killed and wounded in the battle doine here on June 2, 1866.

We visited this battlefield site for a short 30 minutes with local friends. It is a very interesting site with a few interpretive boards for a quick read and one large board. In addition, there is a monument commemorating this battle with a listing of those who died here and a farm house that was moved nearby with interpretive signs on the windows.

Well worth the 30 minutes to visit this tourist stop to learn about the Fenian raides into Canada, which was a catalyst to confederation. For the geology buffs, the ridge that featured in the battle is related to the Onondaga limestone. For the botanical buffs, there is an interesting history of an Ironwood tree whose history includes the Battle of Ridgeway.

A well done, local summation of the historic battle during the Fenian Raids of 1866. I learned more about Canadian history and seeing the site made things that I have read seem more real.

Interesting visit after we had been into the Museum. You need to use your imagination here, but it's worth a visit.

I couldn’t find the Ridgeway Battlefield who was somewhere on Highway 3. My GPS brought me nowhere. Instead I kept looking to find it and eventually I did find it. It was worthwhile. Wow! There was so much information!
This is where the Feneans attacked Canada. There is a monument commemorating this event and an honor call for all those who died here. There were a lot of information interpretive signs, explaining everything about that war.
A farm nearby had been under attack as well. The children and mom had to run away to avoid any casualties. That farm still exists, but it isn’t a farm any longer. On every window there is information about this battle.
This is the best place to get all the info about this strange battle from the past. A worthwhile trek! I enjoyed my time there.

This is one of the spots that locals visit for a better understanding of our local history, and it's worth a visit if you are a fan of history and battle sites. There are plenty to visit in the region (Old Fort, Fort George, Queenston) but don't forget to leave this little spot off your list. If you can, go when they have the re-enactments. They put on quite a show! There is a a lot of green space, so you can stay for a picnic after you visit the site.
