Beautiful area to ski/snowboard! Stayed right in the town, easy to access mountain lifts and plenty of runs. Got over a foot of snow, great conditions!

Wonderful runs, nicely groomed, lots of places to dine, nice private ski instructors, but they do need to make more restroom areas on the slopes. Also, the trek on flat area is very difficult and they should make a “magic carpet” for people to hop onto. Sometimes it gets crowded and a bit dangerous but they should emphasize spacing for safety more. We can’t wait until the expansion and hope to see all levels of runs too. Maybe they will make a ski in/ski out resort which would draw a ton of people too, if it is five star.

Overall it’s an ok ski resort, but as a European, I just don’t “get” the fascination that many reviewers have. DV is a very American experience, as the focus seems to be on a comfortable/luxurious stay rather than the ski-sport itself, eg, most chalets are huge “ski-in” mansions, built in the middle of the mountain which to me feels out of place and a continuation of the suburban sprawl - not an escape to nature. The day pass is comically overpriced, and when the crowds come out during peak season the wait times at the lifts can be long. Also the runs are quite short so one ends up 20 min on the lift for 5min skiing. Key target demographic seems to be corporate execs/PE guys/lawyers, wealthy pensioners and private school kids. The food options on the mountain are solid, but to really cater to the crowd, a few more business center (or locations to take zoom calls) would be desirable.

Deer Valley continues to provide a respite from the crowds and antics present at many other resorts. Freed from navigating the throngs jostling to hop on lifts, we got more runs in throughout our most recent stay. We especially appreciate that Deer Valley has a presence at all the hotels we’ve stayed at in the area, specifically the Stein and St. Regis.
We enjoy the variety of terrain, the immaculate grooming, the brilliant tree skiing, and of course, all the charming nooks and crannies throughout the resort. Part of the fun of coming here is discovering and rediscovering aspects of the resort that you might imagine few have noticed. It's the little things they do that make Deer Valley special.
Staff are terrific as well. Great thanks to the ski instructor who found my dropped AirPods and swiftly delivered them to lost and found.

Had a great time snowmobiling with friends. Our guide Landon was super nice and professional. He picked us up promptly at the agreed time, drove us to and from our adventure and made sure we were all safe and had fun the entire time! I would highly recommend this outfitter for a great snowmobiling experience.

The twice free daily expert tour made my vacation. They took me to the best stash and best places to ski including trees,
Chutes, and secret runs they love. I couldn’t have found these runs or ski safely without the group. I was going to go to Alta and Solitude because they got a bit more snow but the tours kept me at Deer Valley. Paying for a private day of this kind of inside knowledge would probably be $1000 or more and I would never have been able
to do this kind of skiing without the tour. I met fun and great skiers that I skied with after the tours which also was an unexpected joy. These tours are a gift to expert skiers that don’t know the mountain but want to ski it all. Thank you Trevor, Mo, Ty, Brook, and Chris- you made my ski trip
one of the best and I’ve been skiing hard for 50 years and been all over the world, but am things considered, including the money, this trip was top 10.

Deer Valley is no longer what it used to be, from the attention given by employees to the quality of the tissues, everything seems worse.
My family and I have been skiing here for the past 15 years and I can say with certainty that the experience has decreased greatly over the last 5. It’s no wonder Deer Valley isn’t even inside the top 10 best resorts in the US anymore. The food isn’t as good, the portions are smaller and more expensive, employees aren’t as attentive and nice any more, and what can I say about the crowds, I felt like I was skiing in Vail on some runs.
Ski patrol doesn’t do anything about reckless skiers, which there seem to be more this year. Both of my elderly parents were run over in separate incidents by reckless skiers, one of which started hurling discriminatory abuse at my father. We went to ski patrol to report it and the patrollers words were “we can’t do anything, we didn’t see it so it’s your word against his, I wouldn’t bother making a complaint”. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
The tissues given out on lifts and restaurants used to be soft and decent quality. Now it feels like you’re blowing your nose with sandpaper and the tissues are so thin that every time you use one everything soaks through and you make a mess.
This resort used to be about having the best experience possible, now it just feels like a business out to make as much money as possible.
To top it off, we went for dinner at Fireside, we’ve been going at least once a year for the past 10 years and you could always bring your own wine with no extra cost. No it costs $50 per bottle to bring your own wine.

Came for drinks and live music. You have to order a snack with your drinks, the popcorn was pretty good. Drinks took a long time to come out, probably 30 minutes. Luckily there was good entertainment and also good people watching!

We have skied Deer Valley every year for the last 15 + years. Unfortunately this year, we have had the worst conditions as possible. That is not Deer Valley's fault for lack of snow. Last year at this time we had world record amount of snow. However, There was <50% of the ski-able area available, and what was open was either Ice or Rocks and Twigs. In the past they have limited the tickets, but they did not limit them enough. I have skied all my life and made it safely off the mountain feeling stressed from the watching my back for other skiers NOT caring about safety. We witnessed more than 5 people / run fall/get hit or close calls every run we made. I love the people/workers of Deer Valley but the corporate division making the calls NEED to limit people more, help the staff with more coverage of Ski Patrol, more support and training of the wonderful ski school for safety and support Ski ediquette. You are expanding...please do it safely and thoughtfully. Your reputation and support of one of the most expensive ski ticket will be in question.

We are staying mid mountain -near silver lake lodge when we visit. My husband and kids ski, but I do not. Is it easy for me to get to town? Is it walkable? I know the bus is free but I would like to get some exercise :)
Also, anywhere I could meet them on the mountain - mid mountain for lunch? Or only the bases or in town.
Thank you!!

Silver lake is quite far from town to walk. There is regular bus service to get there though.
To eat mid mountain there is a lodge at silver lake and at empire. Both of those are easy to get to on the bus. I’d suggest looking for something in lower deer valley if you want to be closer to town. There isn’t much to do in silver lake besides skiing

Hi -- if you had the choice, would you visit in December/January (winter break) or the first week of April (spring break)? Which has better snow conditions? I assume it will be busy/crowded at both times. Thanks in advance!

January really cold, not good for kids, April warm snow is getting heavy, our spring break is the first week of March. We like that.

I'm coming in for a ski weekend shortly, with my flight arriving at noon into SLC. We're doing PCMR all weekend but thought I'd try and hit DV the day I arrive since I have an Ikon pass. Is it worth even trying to get on the mountain the afternoon I arrive or is that a pipe dream? Impacts logistics planning.

The slopes have been closing between 3:30 and 4:30, and yes you could do both. And it is good to know Deer Valley does not take the Epic Pass and no snow boarding at Deer Valley (snobs, ha!)

Silly questions, I don’t ski. Do I need to purchase a lift ticket to enjoy the fine dinning in the evening? I’ll be coming from a condo on Main Street with friends. I thought I could just take the bus... wanted to be sure.

What’s cheapest easiest way to get from SLC airport to Deer Valley? I’d love to find a public transportation way or cheap bus/shuttle to go for the day.

The cheapest way would require using bus route 901/902 from slc proper, but the logistics would be hard becuz the bus only runs very early in the morning and you would need trax green line to get you into the city

Hi there. We are headed to this place this weekend. Do you have to breing your own chair or are they provided?

Yes you could bring your own chair (less than 9” tall) If you’re attending a concert (summer). You could also bring a blanket or rent a chair there . Sorry it took this long to see your question .

Looking for a base lodge location to change into our ski boots on arrival, then head to ticket window with our ikon passes.

Sounds like you need locker for your walking boots. Since we drive our car to Deer Valley, we changed into ski boots at the car. I don’t know whether lockers are available. Most rental places and restaurants on site store skis while you eat or overnite; I would check with them. If u already have ikon passes, U might not need to go to ticket office (you do need paper lift ticket to affix to your jacket). Hope this helps — enjoy the skiing.

We are debating about renting our equipment from Ski Butler or the local shop on the mountain. Any advice?
Scott A
Salt Lake City, UT63 inlägg
Hi, I would rent from the shop at the mountain. If you are renting multiple days it is free to check skis in on mountain for storage. Also if you have any issues it is much easier to get it taken care of on the mountain if you rent equipment there.
On mountain vendors are very friendly and easy to work with. Enjoy, Deer Valley is the best. The food is Fantastic. Try the shepherds pie and the Cherry pie.
