We walked, but wished we had rented bikes to do the whole 24 km return. We made it to tunnel 2 , was about the 3 km mark. What a fantastic trail. Very easy to walk - nicely grades and flat. The only tricky part of the visit was the drive up to the top…very rough. Wouldn’t attempt the drive on spring time or wet weather unless you have an off road vehicle. Would definitely come back and rent bikes to do the whole trail.

Tolle kleine Fahrradtour 2×11 km über 18 Brücken bis zu 53 m Höhe im Gebirge. Die Stecke ist total eben und auch mit Kindern geeignet.

Great trestle walk. We drove to the parking lot at myra canyon end. Last 8km is gravel road but no issues in July. Large parking lot, was no problem to get a space. Bike rental is at start of parking. Would have been fun to cycle the whole route but $48 per bike. Drop toilets at start of route.
We walked 3km in & out - 9 trestles, 2 tunnels. Great views. Was getting hot towards the end as not much shade there

Not to be missed! The drive up is steep and wind-y, however it is well worth the time to get to the top and start the trail. We brought our own bikes and helmets, however there is a well run bike rental place at the top who were super friendly.
The trail is superb.. the views are amazing and the history astounding. Easily doable for even the uninitiated biker.

Beautiful views, but with a young family we only made a 1 hour hike there and back (we did not complete it). Not all trestle bridges have double crossed planks and little ones younger than 3 could fall through if not careful.

BE PREPARED , the road to the trailhead was rougher than expected.
8 KM of gravel/potholes and washboard. Mind your bike racks and be courteous to slower traffic , Motorhomes will be slow.
Was totally worth the drive , and taking a bike was nice so we could do the entire 22 k in a leisurely 2 hours

Walked from parking lot/ trestle #18 to 6, including one tunnel. Drive up to parking lot is 8 km forestry service road. We were ok in sedan, some rough pothole areas, took 15-20 minutes. Pretty overcast so my photos not great. Bike rentals available for half day, we walked. Outhouses in parking lot. Good information kiosk in parking lot regarding restoration following 2003 Kelowna fire.

Highly recommend this beautiful trail in winter, but with elevation over 1200 metres be prepared with cold weather gear - boots, hat, warm jacket, etc. While Kelowna was sunny and springlike, the Myra Canyon Trail was covered in fresh snow and the wind was blowing. The road up was plowed, but still tricky. Once on the trail, a narrow path was compacted and walkable, but one step to the side to let someone pass meant you were up to mid calf in deep snow. Round trip from the Myra entrance over seven trestles to the tunnel and back was 5 km.

This is a 10 - 11 km trail, which you can start from both ends (total round trip is about 20 - 21 km). The road up the canyon is not totally paved, but it is okay. From one end, the road is about 6 km up there (less popular end, but in my opinion the more attractive one) and the other is about 8 km (which is more crowded, probably because the road condition is slightly better). The views are really spectacular, remember to take some water with yourself. You can walk, run, or bike there as it is pretty flat.

Is it possible to do this hike in winter?
What’s the best way to get out there?
Thanks in advance

Yes, it is a good hike even in the winter.
Hello, is it feasible to drive from Big White Village to Myra Canyon entrance? If so, can anyone suggestion a route from Big White. I can only find direction from Kelowna. We are on a tight timeline and would love to set aside 4 hours to do this. Thanks!

There is a way to cut through east kelowna to kettle valley but unless you are very familiar with rural kelowna roads it is unlikely it will save you time.
I'd suggest follow hwy 33 down to Springfield rd exit. Then take it to benvoulin rd thenback up to Myra canyon. There will be signs showing the route from there.
Due to speed limits and the number of turns and bridges the other way is unlikely to save you time.
Big white to myra will be 1.5 to 2hrs drive on a good day.
Is it possible to do the trail on a 10 speed road bike vs a mountain bike?

This could really only be done comfortably on the rail and tunnel portion from Myra to about the 12 km portion south toward Penticton. Anything past that, I firmly believe you would be very frustrated and disappointed.

I am a good cyclist, but because of my leg injury, I can push the pedal with force of one leg , so just can cycle in flat routes. Whant to know if the route is flat almost flat ( if not I must walk with my bicycle! ) and if it is steep in some parts, renters have electric bikes?
Another question : if I want to walk, I can do not more than 3km, better to start in which place?

Sorry, didn’t realize I had a question... I would only recommend starting at the Myra Canyon end. To start in Penticton would be a very, very challenging endeavour...I would not even do it that way.
As for your other question, I think you would have extreme difficulty with only one power leg. It’s possible but one would have to be in awesome shape. The challenge is not the grade but the amount of sand and rock. I would think you may have to walk some of the legs.
Hope this helps.

The trestles have been designed for safe, foot traffic. While they are quite high, it is very easy to stay in the middle of the walkway and not have to look straight over the edge.

Hello,
Would there also be bikes available to transport a disabled person?
Thank you for a suggestion how to arrange.

Hello! Does anyone know if it’ll be too cold to do cycle on the trestles in a few days’ time? Many thanks!

Just dress warm and you will enjoy the ride especially if the sun is out. I have done the trestles and headed towards Chute Lake and ended up in a rain storm and we just peddled faster to get back lol! Usually the rain doesn’t last long anyways. Enjoy!

Will I hybrid bike work on the myra canyon trail?
weezyslife
Sorrento, Kanada105 inlägg
Yes, it is preferable. A road bike might be OK but if you have both definitely take the hybrid. I wouldn’t wake my road bike on the path but then I have a choice.
